Глава 18

1 После этого разговора царя с Давидом сын его Ионафан всей душой привязался к Давиду и полюбил его всем сердцем.

2 Саул в тот день оставил Давида при себе, не позволив ему вернуться к отцу;

3 Ионафан же заключил с Давидом союз, потому что полюбил его всем сердцем.

4 Ионафан подарил Давиду плащ со своего плеча, но не только одежду, а и меч, лук и пояс.

5 Куда бы ни посылал его Саул, Давид во всем был успешен, и потому царь поставил его во главе войска; это понравилось всему народу и слугам Саула.

6 Когда Давид и всё войско возвращались домой после победы над Голиафом, женщины из всех израильских селений выходили навстречу царю Саулу с радостным пением и плясками, с бубнами и струнными инструментами.

7 Они пели и танцевали, восклицая: «Саул сразил тысячи, а Давид — десятки тысяч!»

8 Возмутило это Саула, и сказал он с досадой: «Давиду приписали десятки тысяч, а мне — лишь тысячи! Только царства ему теперь недостает!»

9 С того дня Саул стал следить за Давидом, во всем подозревая его.

10 На следующий день злой дух, посланный Богом, сошел на Саула, и тот безумствовал в своем доме, а Давид играл для него на лире, как делал это всегда. В руке у Саула было копье,

11 и он дважды метнул его, решив пригвоздить Давида к стене, но тот оба раза увернулся.

12 Стал Саул опасаться Давида, потому что ГОСПОДЬ был с ним, а Саула Он оставил.

13 Тогда Саул удалил от себя Давида и поставил его во главе тысячи воинов, которых тот водил в походы.

14 На всех своих путях Давид преуспевал, и ГОСПОДЬ был с ним.

15 Видя, что Давид преуспевает, стал Саул бояться его.

16 А весь Израиль и Иудея полюбили Давида, потому что он всегда был вместе с ними в бою.

17 Однажды Саул сказал Давиду: «Вот моя старшая дочь Мерав. Я отдаю ее тебе в жены, только бесстрашно служи мне и веди войны ГОСПОДНИ». Саул рассуждал про себя: «Пусть он падет не от моей руки, а от рук филистимлян».

18 Но Давид ответил Саулу: «Да кто я пред тобой и что пред тобой моя жизнь или род моего отца в Израиле, чтобы мне стать зятем царя?»

19 И когда настало время выдать Мерав, дочь Саула, за Давида, ее выдали замуж за Адриэля из Мехолы.

20 Но Давида полюбила Михаль, другая дочь Саула, и, когда об этом сообщили царю, это пришлось ему по душе.

21 Саул решил: «Выдам ее за него, станет она ему ловушкой, и падет он от руки филистимлян». А Давиду сказал: «На этот раз ты станешь моим зятем».

22 Слугам своим Саул велел передавать Давиду будто по секрету: «Царь и все его слуги любят тебя — быть тебе зятем царя».

23 Слуги Саула говорили всё это Давиду, но Давид отвечал: «Вы думаете, шуточное дело — породниться с царем? Ведь я беден и незнатен».

24 И слуги Саула пересказывали царю ответы Давида.

25 Тогда Саул велел передать Давиду следующее: «Не угоден царю никакой иной выкуп за невесту, кроме обрезанной крайней плоти ста филистимлян — в отмщение врагам царя!» Так Саул задумал погубить Давида руками филистимлян.

26 Когда слуги передали это Давиду, ему понравилась эта мысль, и он захотел стать зятем царя. И, прежде чем пришло время договора,

27 Давид со своими людьми отправился в поход и убил сто филистимлян. Обрезанную крайнюю плоть их Давид принес царю как подарок от будущего зятя. И Саул выдал за него свою дочь Михаль.

28 Теперь Саул понял, что ГОСПОДЬ с Давидом, и дочь Саула Михаль любила его.

29 Еще больше Саул стал бояться Давида и уже видел в нем врага.

30 Но стоило филистимским правителям пойти войной, как Давид сражался успешнее всех прочих слуг Саула, и широко прославилось его имя.

1 Samuel

Chapter 18

1 WHEN David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

2 And Saul took him that day, and would not let him return to his father's house.

3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because Jonathan loved David as his own soul.

4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword and his bow and his girdle.

5 And David went out wherever Saul sent him and was victorious; so that Saul appointed him over the men of war, and he found favor in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants.

6 And it came to pass as they returned, when David came back from the slaughter of the Philistines, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul with tambourines, and with cymbals, and were rejoicing.

7 And the women sang as they played, and laughed, saying, Saul has slain by thousands, and David by tens of thousands.

8 And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what more can he have but the kingdom?

9 And Saul began to envy David from that day forward.

10 And it came to pass after some days that an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of his house, and David was playing music in his presence, as at other times; and there was a javelin in Saul's hand.

11 And Saul threw the javelin; for he said, I will pin David to the wall. But David evaded it twice.

12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul.

13 Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander over a thousand; and he went out to war and came in before the people.

14 And David was a man of understanding in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.

15 And when Saul saw that he was exceedingly wise, he was afraid of him.

16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out to war and came in before them.

17 And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Nadab, I will give her to you to wife, but you must become a commander-in-chief for me and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him.

18 And David said to Saul, Who am I? And what have I done, or what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?

19 But it came to pass at the time when Nadab, Saul's daughter should have been given to David, she was given to Azriel the Meholathite to wife.

20 And Malchel Saul's daughter loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

21 And Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a hindrance to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, You shall this day be my son-in-law in doing one of two things.

22 And Saul commanded his servants to speak to David the son of Jesse, saying, Behold the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you; now therefore be the king's son-in-law.

23 And Saul's servants spoke these words to David. And David said, Seems it to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and despised?

24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, These are the words which David spoke.

25 And Saul said, Thus shall you say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but two hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of his enemies. But King Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

26 And when the servants of Saul told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law; but the time had not come.

27 Wherefore David arose and went out, he and his men, and slew two hundred men of the Philistines; and David brought their foreskins and gave them to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Malchel his daughter to wife.

28 land Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David and that Malchel Saul's daughter loved David exceedingly.

29 And Saul was still the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy thenceforth.

30 Then the princes of the Philistines went forth raiding; and it came to pass at the time they went forth raiding, David was more successful than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly honored.

6 And it came to pass as they returned, when David came back from the slaughter of the Philistines, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul with tambourines, and with cymbals, and were rejoicing.

7 Они пели и танцевали, восклицая: «Саул сразил тысячи, а Давид — десятки тысяч!»

7 And the women sang as they played, and laughed, saying, Saul has slain by thousands, and David by tens of thousands.

8 Возмутило это Саула, и сказал он с досадой: «Давиду приписали десятки тысяч, а мне — лишь тысячи! Только царства ему теперь недостает!»

8 And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what more can he have but the kingdom?

9 С того дня Саул стал следить за Давидом, во всем подозревая его.

9 And Saul began to envy David from that day forward.

10 На следующий день злой дух, посланный Богом, сошел на Саула, и тот безумствовал в своем доме, а Давид играл для него на лире, как делал это всегда. В руке у Саула было копье,

10 And it came to pass after some days that an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of his house, and David was playing music in his presence, as at other times; and there was a javelin in Saul's hand.

11 и он дважды метнул его, решив пригвоздить Давида к стене, но тот оба раза увернулся.

11 And Saul threw the javelin; for he said, I will pin David to the wall. But David evaded it twice.

12 Стал Саул опасаться Давида, потому что ГОСПОДЬ был с ним, а Саула Он оставил.

12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul.

13 Тогда Саул удалил от себя Давида и поставил его во главе тысячи воинов, которых тот водил в походы.

13 Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander over a thousand; and he went out to war and came in before the people.

14 На всех своих путях Давид преуспевал, и ГОСПОДЬ был с ним.

14 And David was a man of understanding in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.

15 Видя, что Давид преуспевает, стал Саул бояться его.

15 And when Saul saw that he was exceedingly wise, he was afraid of him.

16 А весь Израиль и Иудея полюбили Давида, потому что он всегда был вместе с ними в бою.

16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out to war and came in before them.

17 Однажды Саул сказал Давиду: «Вот моя старшая дочь Мерав. Я отдаю ее тебе в жены, только бесстрашно служи мне и веди войны ГОСПОДНИ». Саул рассуждал про себя: «Пусть он падет не от моей руки, а от рук филистимлян».

17 And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Nadab, I will give her to you to wife, but you must become a commander-in-chief for me and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him.

18 Но Давид ответил Саулу: «Да кто я пред тобой и что пред тобой моя жизнь или род моего отца в Израиле, чтобы мне стать зятем царя?»

18 And David said to Saul, Who am I? And what have I done, or what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?

19 И когда настало время выдать Мерав, дочь Саула, за Давида, ее выдали замуж за Адриэля из Мехолы.

19 But it came to pass at the time when Nadab, Saul's daughter should have been given to David, she was given to Azriel the Meholathite to wife.

20 Но Давида полюбила Михаль, другая дочь Саула, и, когда об этом сообщили царю, это пришлось ему по душе.

20 And Malchel Saul's daughter loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

21 Саул решил: «Выдам ее за него, станет она ему ловушкой, и падет он от руки филистимлян». А Давиду сказал: «На этот раз ты станешь моим зятем».

21 And Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a hindrance to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, You shall this day be my son-in-law in doing one of two things.

22 And Saul commanded his servants to speak to David the son of Jesse, saying, Behold the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you; now therefore be the king's son-in-law.

23 Слуги Саула говорили всё это Давиду, но Давид отвечал: «Вы думаете, шуточное дело — породниться с царем? Ведь я беден и незнатен».

23 And Saul's servants spoke these words to David. And David said, Seems it to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and despised?

24 И слуги Саула пересказывали царю ответы Давида.

24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, These are the words which David spoke.

25 Тогда Саул велел передать Давиду следующее: «Не угоден царю никакой иной выкуп за невесту, кроме обрезанной крайней плоти ста филистимлян — в отмщение врагам царя!» Так Саул задумал погубить Давида руками филистимлян.

25 And Saul said, Thus shall you say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but two hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of his enemies. But King Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

26 Когда слуги передали это Давиду, ему понравилась эта мысль, и он захотел стать зятем царя. И, прежде чем пришло время договора,

26 And when the servants of Saul told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law; but the time had not come.

27 Давид со своими людьми отправился в поход и убил сто филистимлян. Обрезанную крайнюю плоть их Давид принес царю как подарок от будущего зятя. И Саул выдал за него свою дочь Михаль.

27 Wherefore David arose and went out, he and his men, and slew two hundred men of the Philistines; and David brought their foreskins and gave them to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Malchel his daughter to wife.

28 Теперь Саул понял, что ГОСПОДЬ с Давидом, и дочь Саула Михаль любила его.

28 land Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David and that Malchel Saul's daughter loved David exceedingly.

29 Еще больше Саул стал бояться Давида и уже видел в нем врага.

29 And Saul was still the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy thenceforth.

30 Но стоило филистимским правителям пойти войной, как Давид сражался успешнее всех прочих слуг Саула, и широко прославилось его имя.

30 Then the princes of the Philistines went forth raiding; and it came to pass at the time they went forth raiding, David was more successful than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly honored.
